January 30, 2004 By: Yannik Allan Study says online wireless retail channel to continue growthLetsTalk, an online wireless retailer, distributor and provider of enterprise wireless management software, today announced scientific research data that shows in wireless, the online channel is expected to see continued growth. LetsTalk commissioned Wirthlin Worldwide to conduct a phone survey to a representative sample of Americans in February 2003. The LetsTalk research showed 13% of consumers expected to buy their next cell phone online. This compares to 7% a year earlier and is in line with analyst predictions of continued growth in the online wireless channel. LetsTalk asked Americans who were planning to buy a cell phone: “Where do you expect to buy your next wireless phone?” “Carriers recognize that independent online retailers provide the ability to sell into niche markets and leverage the marketing power of affinity and marketing partners,” said Delly Tamer, CEO of LetsTalk. “We expect partnerships to account for much of our growth moving forward which is good for carriers, since historically, the online channel has provided customers with much better ARPUs and churn.” Tamer will further explore the results of the survey in the panel entitled "Wireless Distribution Channels" at this year's CTIA Wireless 2003 at the Ernest N. Memorial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA on March 18 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in room 276. CTIA Wireless 2003 is the largest and most comprehensive wireless trade show in the United States.
