Globalstar USA lowers satellite phone prices

Globalstar USA, a subsidiary of Vodafone AirTouch plc [VOD], today announced promotional satellite phone pricing to allow more people to make and receive calls where cellular service isn't available. First, Globalstar-compatible phones from Qualcomm are now available at the promotional price of $699 (with service commitment). Second, service subscription prices now start at $24.95 per month, with per-minute pricing for satellite service as low as 99 cents (US).

"The popularity of wireless communications is boosting the demand for service outside of cellular coverage areas" said Andy Radlow, director of marketing of Globalstar USA. "Globalstar has the greatest handheld coverage available in the world today. With this promotion, more people can discover what it's like to be connected all the time, whether at sea, in rural or rugged locations, or in those 'dead spots' found even in metropolitan areas."
