Globalstar USA announces Time or Money promotion

Globalstar USA, a subsidiary of Vodafone Group plc [VOD] and exclusive provider of Globalstar satellite communication services in the United States, today announced new promotional satellite phone pricing to enable even more people to make and receive calls where cellular service isn't available. With the "Time or Money" offer, customers who purchase either a handheld or fixed satellite phone and sign up for Globalstar service will receive a rebate coupon which may be redeemed for either 300 free minutes of satellite airtime (a value of over $500) or a $300 equipment rebate.

"Globalstar is known for offering its customers choices," said Andy Radlow, director of marketing of Globalstar USA. "Customers have the option of using the phone in satellite or cellular mode. They can use it on land or 200 miles and more offshore. They can use a maritime or car kit to increase the phone's utility. This new promotion again illustrates Globalstar USA's commitment to empowering customers by allowing them to choose free satellite airtime minutes or a cash equipment rebate."

Globalstar customers in the U.S. use Qualcomm's Globalstar tri-mode phone, which functions as an analog or digital cellular phone in addition to working in satellite mode. As a result, customers can always use the least expensive option: cellular in the city, satellite when needed. The tri-mode phone carries a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $1,199. Service plans are available for as low as $24.95 per month.
