Wireline phone service

Telular Corporation Carriers struggling with customer retention and looking for new sources of revenue can now offer consumers an economical and reliable alternative to traditional wireline phone service thanks to Telular Corporations new CDMA2000 1X fixed wireless phone models.

In addition to providing superior wireless reception at a competitive price to landline service, Telulars new products include gpsOne position technology for E911 compliance as well as TDD/TTY for the hearing impaired. The products are being unveiled at the CTIA Wireless 2004 tradeshow in Atlanta.

The Phonecell SX5P CDMA2000 1X fixed wireless phones provide voice communications with near wireline quality as well as high-speed packet data, circuit-switched data and SMS text messaging in an attractive desktop phone.

An important new feature to Telulars products is optional gpsne location technology, which satisfies the FCC mandate for carriers to report the location of a wireless 911 caller.

In addition, position location capabilities have become increasingly important to carriers as they look for ways to generate revenue and offer new services to their customers.

The Telular SX5P 1X fixed wireless phone has gained quick acceptance in the marketplace and is already shipping in volume to key customers in Latin America for traditional Wireless Local Loop applications, said Ken Millard, chairman, president and CEO of Telular Corporation. This product represents a major milestone in our efforts to offer advanced features and value to our customers.

The SX5P 1X phones include convenient text messaging using a large, easy-to-read LCD display. The SX5P 1X comes with several standard convenience features including speakerphone, large phone book capable of storing up to 99 entries, speed dialing, and up to three stored emergency numbers. Like most Telular products, the SX5P 1X can be placed on a desktop or wall-mounted.

The SX5P 1X fixed wireless phone is available as either a single band 800 MHz or 1900 MHz model, or a dual band 800/1900 MHz model. For Asian markets that require it, R-UIM compatibility is available as an option. The R-UIM stores both network parameters and subscriber profile, similar to the SIM used in GSM devices. Battery backup is also available as an option.
