Businesses and Governments Embrace Wireless Data Network

Thanks to wireless data networks, more mobile workers in more industries are enjoying fully functional computer resources out in the field. New higher-speed wireless data networks are making the wireless solution more suitable for all kinds of business and government uses.

Wireless networks keep a central office connected to all kinds of remote wireless devices. The networks support voice, text, images and Internet access. The wireless data network has been utilized by transportation systems, utilities and more recently homeland security operations.

Government agencies are turning to wireless to add efficiency to their operations. The city of Aurora, Colorado, for instance, uses a wireless data network with Wi-Fi access to operate and monitor refuelling stations for all city-owned vehicles. Police departments rely on wireless data networks so officers in the field can immediately access state and federal crime databases.

In the health care industry, wireless databases are just starting to emerge. The health care wireless network market will grow to more than $7 billion by 2010. The potential for even greater growth is available if the healthcare industry can embrace wireless technology. The healthcare industry now spends less than five percent of its gross income on wireless technology.

The real estate industry has already incorporated wireless data networks. The networks enable agents to access the Multi Listing Service and to wirelessly send pictures of property to prospective buyers. Eventually the networks could even replace the lock box. Security codes could be sent through the airwaves to allow secure, keyless entry into properties on the market.
