Bluetooth Technology Improves Cordless Headsets

Tired of being tied to your wireless phone? It’s time to try out cordless headsets. Cordless headsets untether you from your phone and let you roam up to several yards away from your handset while you talk.

Bluetooth radio technology is improving the latest generation of cordless sets. Here are some of the newest headsets available that offer the freedom of being cordless.

The Jabra B200 FreeSpeak headset offers eight hours of talk time from a Bluetooth mobile phone. You can perform hold and redial functions from the cordless headset itself. If your mobile phone does not have Bluetooth, the Jabra FreeSpeak headset comes with an adapter that will give your phone Bluetooth functionality.

Logitech’s Mobile Cordless Headset has up to seven hours of talk time. The soft, flexible headset can fit either ear and works with all Bluetooth mobile phones. One bonus feature—the case doubles as a charging station.

The FoneGear Cord Free universal wireless headset uses magnetic induction technology rather the radio frequency technology used by other manufacturers. The FoneGear offers 25 hours of talk time and three months of stand by from a single AA battery. To use the FoneGear Cord Free, your phone (not the headset but the phone itself) must be wired to a small transmission unit. The headset is compatible with all mobile phones and other mobile devices, Bluetooth enabled or not. At $39.99 it costs significantly less than Bluetooth headsets.

The Plantronic M300 Bluetooth headset offers noise-reducing software that makes it ideal for noisy environments like airports. The cordless headset has up to eight hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby.
