May 04, 2005 By: Wendy Whittaker HP and T-Mobile Introduce Wireless PC PhoneNow you really can have it all. HP and T-Mobile have combined forces to bring a new wireless PC phone to the market. This wireless cellular phone allows mobile users to make telephone calls and have high-speed Internet access all from a fully functional pocket PC. The two cellular companies collaborated closely on development of the PC cell phone. The HP iPAQ h6315 Pocket PC has all the features you’d expect in either a cellular phone or a pocket computer. These wireless PC telephones have GSM global technology, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionality. What that all adds up to is enabling users to communicate quickly and efficiently via their telephone, Internet or text messaging. The phone will use T-Mobile’s GPRS network for speedy Internet connections. In areas where it is available the phone will automatically switch to T-Mobile HotSpot Wi-FI service. The PC features of the wireless iPAQ h6315 include 64 MB of data storage capacity and a nifty snap-on QWERTY keyboard. The telephone uses Microsoft Windows 2003 Mobile Phone Edition software. While the HP iPAQ h6315 Pocket PC is the first all-in-one wireless device to include GSM global phone capabilities, it certainly won’t be the last. Technology trend watchers expect other companies to introduce similar wireless pc phones in the near future. T-Mobile will be the exclusively vendor of the wireless pc handset. The iPAQ Pocket PC is available in the US for $499 with a T-Mobile service contract. Related Items Also See: free cell phones. About
