September 13, 2004 By: Wendy Whittaker Pay two ways for an international callMaking an international call is possible from your cell phone. You just have to decide exactly how you want to pay for it. Rates for an international call can vary dramatically depending on where you are calling from and what long distance service you use. One way to approach calling internationally is to sign up with a company that offers global long distance. A company like Tel3.com offers the same rate for international calls whether you use a landline or a cellular phone. Tel3.com lets you pick from two levels of international service. To access the Tel3 service, you dial an access number then the number you are calling. A smart calling card will automatically replenish your Tel3 account so you want be cut off in mid-conversation if your minutes run out. You will pay a small additional monthly fee for Tel3 international service. Tel3 offers a free trial with 30 minutes of international calling time. Another option for making international calls from your cell phone is using prepaid phone cards. Prepaid cards for nearly any country you want to call are available from Nobelcom. The Nobelcom site is easy to use and lets you choose from international cards with different rates, connection fees and features. The Phone Card Advisor feature makes it easy to see exactly what you’re paying for each card. Cards can be recharged online. If you choose either of these options for making international calls from your cell phone, remember that your standard cell phone charges still apply. You will still be paying for the minutes you use. If you’re outside your home area when you make the call, you will be charged roaming fees according to you service plan.
