February 04, 2006 By: Shawnee McRoberts Motorola Introduces Three New Digital Trunking Mobile Phones With Global Positioning System FunctionMotorola’s (NYSE: MOT) Commercial, Government and Industrial Solutions Sector (CGISS) today announced three latest iDEN (Integrated Digital Enhanced Network) mobile phones - i205, i305 and i730 – as the first in China to incorporate Global Positioning System (GPS) function. The phones were launched with China Unicom Guomai Telecom Co., Ltd., a long-term partner of Motorola, at the Shanghai International Telecommunication Exhibition from 23-26 June 2004. All three phones combine stylish designs with comprehensive functions such as push-to-talk (PTT), text messaging and packet data transfer. They also incorporate a wireless dispatch solution that was provided by Unicom Guomai to enhance its security and stability. “Our latest phones demonstrate Motorola’s commitment to the two-way radio communication market. We are constantly introducing more choices with improved and more advanced functions to our Chinese customers based on our experience and research on user application needs,” said Chew Guan Sing, General Manager, Systems Solutions, North Asia. “We believe these new products will provide even higher value to our customers and further enhance user experience.” The three mobile phones have different functions to meet various customers’ requirements. The i205 is lightweight, easy to operate, and incorporates all the features associated with Motorola’s iDEN technology including the Push-to-Talk (PTT) function, phone service, text messaging and data access, at a competitive price for customers who want fuss-free operation. The i305 is tough and durable, built to meet military specifications for resistance to shock, vibration, blowing rain, and salt fog resistance for customers in demanding outdoor conditions. The i730 is a lightweight and sleek compact flip-style phone featuring a vibrant colour screen, two-way radio, phone, text messaging and Java™ technology for the style-conscious professional business users. The Shanghai International Telecommunication Exhibition has been held for 11 years since 1987. As the most influential show in the Huadong region, the exhibition featured both manufacturers and network providers of mobile phones. The event also featured a high-level international forum and various technology update sessions. Also See: absolutely free cell phones.Author Notes:
