Seven Epic Structures of the World
There are amazing and beautiful structures spread all over the world. As technology and architecture continue to advance, more innovate buildings are being made everyday. While these new buildings can be great to look at, nothing compares to the ancient structures that have been built for hundreds of years. While there are plenty of great places in the world, these are the seven most epic structures that you will find.
1. Great Pyramid of Giza
The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest of all of the pyramids that are located in Giza. It was built some time around 2500 B.C and still remains intact today. Most structures fail to last a few hundred years, but the Great Pyramid of Giza has been standing for over 4500 years. Along with the Great Pyramid of Giza, there are several hundred more pyramids located in the area that are just as beautiful.
2. The Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is located in Paris, France and was built in 1889. Once the Eiffel Tower was completed it became the tallest structure in the world, and it held this distinction until 1930. The Eiffel Tower was built for the 1889 World’s Fair, but is now the most visited monument in the world. Visitors can go to the top of the tower and get an amazing view of the city of Paris.
3. Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is located in Agra, India and was completed in 1653. The Taj Mahal was built in the Mughal architecture style and is easily one of the most beautiful building is the world. The Taj Mahal is considered to be a mausoleum and is made entirely of white marble. Both a tomb and a mosque are both contained inside the Taj Mahal.
4. Potala Palace
Potala Palace is located in the city of Lhasa, China and has been standing for over 360 years. Until the mid 1950s, Potala Palace was the home of the Dalai Lama. Potala Palace was named a UNESCO Heritage Site in 1994, which means that it will continue to be preserved for its historical relevance. Potala Palace is a massive structure and contains 13 separate stories of buildings.
5. The Leaning Tower of Pisa
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a bell tower that is located in the city of Pisa, Italy. The tower has become known throughout the world because it does not stand up straight. Despite its leaning structure, the tower has remained to stay standing for nearly 650 years.
6. Stonehenge
Stonehenge is a monument that is located in Wiltshire, England. Nobody knows that exact date of the completion of Stonehenge, but it is considered to be well over 4000 years old. Stonehenge features several large stones standing up in the air and on top of each other. Stonehenge remains a very popular structure due to the mystery surrounding the construction.
7. Great Wall of China
The Great Wall of China is a stone wall that stretches through several cities in the north of China. The wall is over 5500 miles long and was built to keep invaders from entering China. The Great Wall of China is nearly 2500 years old and continues to lose parts of the structure each year due to its age. The most visited sections of the wall remain well preserved, but the outer edges of the wall have become ruined.
